Adhesion Tester
The HATE Adhesion Tester or Pull Off Tester measures with ease and precision the adhesion bond strength of applied coatings. One of the most accurate and versatile adhesion testers currently available.
The adhesion is measured by the tensile pull on a Dolly glued to the coating surface. The force is applied through the centre of the Dolly by a hydraulically loaded pin.
This ensures an exactly central point loading of the force.

Cross Hatch Cutter
The Cross Hatch Cutter allows an assessment to be made of the adhesion resistance of coatings to separation from substrates when a right-angled lattice pattern is cut into the coating and penetrates through to the substrate.
The coating thickness determines the Cutter size used.
The 1mm Cutter is suitable for coatings under 60 Microns. The 2mm Cutter is suitable for coatings over 60 Microns.
Surface Roughness
Surface Roughness
Testex Press O Film offers a unique replica technique and with a simple snap gauge will allow you to take accurate, low-cost blast-surface profile measurements.
Testex makes surface replicas easy to obtain and produces average maximum peak-to-valley readings that ensure optimum blasting effectiveness.
Replicas can be retained for future needs.
Testex Gauge
The Testex Gauge is used to measure the Testex Tape and determine the average maximum peak-to-valley height of the blasted profile.
Measurements are made by firstly zeroing the gauge on 50µm (2mils).
This is to allow for the film backing.
Place the replicated area between the anvils and gently lower the moveable anvil onto the film. The reading can now be taken, giving you the average peak-to-valley height of the blasted profile
Surface Profile Gauge
The Surface Profile Gauge allows the peak-to-valley height of blast-cleaned surfaces to be accurately measured in accordance with the ASTM D4417 Standard.
A simple to use Surface Profile Gauge, offering a high resolution of 1µm.
Profile Gauge
The Analogue Surface Profile Gauge allows the peak-to-valley height of blast-cleaned surfaces to be accurately measured in accordance with the ASTM D4417 Standard. The Analogue Surface Profile Gauge is one of the most economic methods of measuring the peak-to-valley height of a blast cleaned surface.
A simple to use Surface Profile Gauge, offering a high resolution of 2µm

Roughness Comparator
The ISO Surface Roughness Comparator is a precision Nickel Comparator Plate that conforms to International Standard ISO 8503 and ASTM D4417 for grit and shot-blast surface roughness comparison measurement.
Digital Thermometer
The Digital Surface Thermometer allows the measurement of the substrate temperature to be immediately measured. This ensures that the substrate can be maintained at a temperature sufficiently above the dew point to prevent moisture forming on the uncoated surface.
Magnetic Thermometer
The Magnetic Steel Thermometer allows the measurement of the substrate temperature to be immediately measured. This ensures that the substrate can be maintained at a temperature sufficiently above the dew point to prevent moisture forming on the uncoated surface. The Magnetic Thermometer is one of the most economic methods of measuring the surface temperature.
Relative Humidity Meter
The RH Dewpoint Meter allows the determination of the relative humidity, dew point and air temperature before the application of a coating. Specifications usually detail that the relative humidity and the dew point temperature must be strictly adhered to, and that the surface temperature is monitored. The RH% Dewpoint Meter measures both relative humidity and air temperature and computes and displays the dew point temperature.
Whirling Hygrometer
The Whirling Hygrometer or pyscrometer is an established and well-known method for determining the relative humidity and if there is any moisture on steel prior to painting. The Whirling Hygrometer is one of the most economic methods of monitoring relative humidity and dew point. Two models are available: BS Whirling Hygrometer with mercury bulbs fitted and a Budget Whirling Hygrometer with red spirit bulbs fitted.
Dewpoint Calculator
The Dewpoint & RH% Slide Calculator is a simple and easy to use slide rule which allows the dew point temperature and relative humidity to be determined from the wet and dry bulb readings of the Whirling Hygrometer. The determination of dew point is essential to ensure that moisture or condensation does not form on work prior to painting.
Bresle Test
This Chloride Test on steel or Salt Test on steel using the Bresle Patch method will help to prevent coating failure due to salts such as chlorides and sulphates contaminating the surface prior to the coating application. This contamination can be tested quickly and simply using the Bresle Test. The Bresle Test is one of the most popular tests for extracting and measuring the salt contamination on blast-cleaned substrates.
Blast Clean Test
The Potassium Ferricyanide Test, using Potassium Ferricyanide Papers will enable detection of any water-soluble iron salts that form at the bottom of rust pits after blast-cleaning. If these salts are present, they rapidly induce corrosion.
Dust Tape Test
The Dust Test Tape BS EN ISO 8502-3 assess the quantity and particle size of dust on steel surfaces prepared for painting. Dust on blast-cleaned steel surfaces may reduce the adhesion of applied coatings and by absorbing moisture, may promote the corrosion of the blast-cleaned steel surface. Accumulation of dust occurs more naturally on horizontal surfaces, the interior of pipes and in structural cavities. Inspection should be carried out to ensure that such areas are adequately cleaned and free from dust before painting.
Powder Coating Meter
The Powdatest Electrostatic Voltage Meter or Electrostatic Gun Tester is a precision instrument that measures both electrostatic spray gun high voltages and discharge currents. With the Powdatest, any electrostatic sprayer can now quickly measure the voltage at the spray gun tip. This corona point is where the electrostatic voltage must be maintained at the correct voltage. The spray gun high voltage can be up to 100kV and can be either a positive or negative charge. Using the Powdatest, the actual gun voltage can be quickly and accurately measured.
Paint Inspection Kit
The Paint Inspectors Kit (Paint Test Kit) offers the industrial painter all the necessary equipment to carry out a full inspection of the coating process. CONTENTS: Eban 4000 (C4001), Tricomb Stainless Steel (W2001), Testex Tape (R1002), Digital Thermometer (T2003), RH% Dewpoint Meter (H2005), Bresle Test.
Pencil Hardness Teste
The Pencil Hardness Tester is an is a simple and effective technique to evaluate the hardness and resistance to scratching of coatings. The test method allows the use of pencils which have a known hardness grade to be moved over the surface to be tested at a fixed angle and pressure. The principle of operation uses the pressure applied to allow the pencil lead to just crush and therefore repeatable results of the hardness of the coating can be obtained. The pressure or weight applied relates to pencil lead crushing and therefore can be used for vertical coating evaluation to achieve repeatable results.
